The Red Bank” “La Panchina Rossa
, translated as “The Red Bench”, is a project from Italy and was first launched in 2016. The two managing directors, Sinem Eryurt-Celik and Thea Giebl, brought the “Red Benches for Hanover” project to Hanover.
The bench is intended to raise awareness of gender-based violence and symbolize the spaces left vacant when women fall victim to domestic and sexual violence. In 2021, the Municipal Prevention Council (KPR) of the state capital of Hanover launched the project "Hanover is stronger than violence - for safe families in our city."
