For ten days, nine women of different ages and origins spent time in HanoverMittelfeld Learned to ride a bike and successfully completed the course with a certificate on September 18, 2020. Most of them rode their bikes for the first time, and a few refreshed their cycling practice. The course took place in cooperation with the ADFC Region Hanover instead, who provided the necessary equipment such as helmets, bicycles, etc. The experienced trainers introduced the women to cycling in a relaxed atmosphere, initially with balance exercises on scooters and later on real bicycles.
For previous bike courses in HanoverMittelfeld the popular traffic simulator of the local police department was also used. Unfortunately, this time it could not be used due to corona regulations. The topics of traffic safety and traffic rules were of course not neglected and could be put into practice on the last day during a joint final drive. Afterwards there was coffee & tea for everyone involved SchMitt e.V. in the cafeteria of the "Treffpunkt der Kulturen", Karlsruher Str. 2c in Hanover-Mittelfeld.
Everyone involved in the project is very grateful that the course was able to take place despite the coronavirus and that the group was able to ride continuously in great weather and sunshine!
This project was funded by Integration fund "Together - Together for Integration" of the Hannover Region.
Another cycling course for women is planned for September 2021. We will inform you as soon as the registration is open.
