Municipal Prevention Council District 8

Representatives from facilities for children and young people in the district, the municipal senior citizens' service of the state capital Hanover, the police and politics as well as residents work in the KPR.

The aim of the KPR is to act preventively against violence , e.g. against drug abuse, vandalism and domestic violence.

The KPR is networked with other prevention councils through its membership in the Municipal Prevention Council of the state capital Hanover and in the State Prevention Council of Lower Saxony (LPR).

Projects of the Municipal Prevention Council (KPR)

The KPR has already initiated numerous projects , such as "Experience without Drugs," the painting of Telekom's multi-functional boxes by elementary school students from the district, the well-attended exhibition "Violence in Couple Relationships" at the Diakovere House, and the "Seniors' Day" at the Döhren Community Center. The KPR has also had very positive experiences initiating an Internet ABC program at an elementary school in the district.

“The Brown Trap – a right-wing extremist ‘career’” was the title of the exhibition by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution on the topic of right-wing extremism, which was shown in September 2014 at the Döhren leisure center in Hanover in cooperation with the Döhren-Wülfel Municipal Prevention Council, the Döhren leisure center and the youth protection/street social work department of the City of Hanover.

From 2014 to 2016, the KPR supported the Döhren-Wülfel-Mittelfeld organized for refugees. The group of supporters has been coordinated by volunteers since October 2016.

Two working groups were formed in 2019:

The AG Residential Environment
The AG Media The project ended in 2024 after an active work phase for an interactive rally for young people.

By 2022, the Working group on violence prevention educated:
Inspired by the initiative “Stronger than Violence” of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, the Municipal Prevention Council of the state capital Hanover has set an example with the campaign “Hanover is stronger than violence – for safe families in our city”.

The KPR Döhren-WülfelMittelfeld took the campaign of the KPR of the LHH as an opportunity to set up a violence prevention working group and initially held talks on the subject of "domestic violence" with individuals and institutions from the district.

The working group, together with other stakeholders from the district, carried out an event throughout the district on the "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women" on November 25, 2022. Floor buttons with relevant slogans were placed in front of buildings, in squares, and on sidewalks. Balloons were also placed nearby as eye-catchers, and "advice and support guides" were distributed to interested individuals.

On the one hand, the campaign served to draw attention to the topic of domestic violence and, on the other hand, to signal to those affected: We are there for you and will support you if you want it.

The working group also carried out activities in the district in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

In 2024, the KPR Döhren-Wülfel organized a prevention week with interactive activities, lectures and prevention theatre pieces for different age groups.

The working group on children's rights was formed in 2025.

The working group carried out two activities on May 29, 2026. In the morning, activities were held for preschool children from the district in Nachbarschaftstreff Mittelfeld A puppet theater performance on the topic of bullying was performed. Afterwards, there was a creative activity on the topic of children's rights. In the afternoon, the working group offered various interactive activities on the topic of children's rights at the playground event celebrating European Neighbours' Day.

In 2026, the KPR Döhren-Wülfel presented itself with an information stand at the German Prevention Day in Hanover.
