With the 2023 housing benefit reform, the housing benefit was increased significantly and a larger group of people will be entitled to it.
Households who are currently receiving housing benefit do not need to apply for an increase. The increase will be implemented automatically and decided separately.
You will receive the updated notifications at the beginning of January 2023 and then on 15.01.23/XNUMX/XNUMX the payment of the difference for January.
The increased amount will then be paid out regularly from February. For the first time, the heating costs are now also taken into account when calculating the housing benefit. You do not need to prove this. The amount of the flat rate depends on the number of people.

The grant is €415 for 1 person, €540 for 2 people and €100 for each additional person in the household. An application for this is not required. Payment is made automatically if you meet the above requirements. Payment will be made in Hanover on March 01.03.2023st, XNUMX. The subsidy is not transferred with the regular housing benefit payment. You will receive the amount separately and a corresponding notification. Please refrain from interim inquiries. |
Tenants of living space and owners of living space they use themselves receive housing benefit under the Housing Benefits Act (WoGG) as a rent subsidy or as a monthly payment if they meet the legal requirements and are not excluded from housing benefit.
For the calculation of the entitlement to housing benefit, the number of household members, the rental amount, or the amount of the monthly burden for owner-occupied living space and the sum of Income of all household members essential. If there are people living in the household who are excluded from housing benefit because of other benefits (see below), their income and share of housing costs are not taken into account when calculating housing benefit.
If there is an entitlement, housing benefit will be paid from the 1st of the month in which the Application has been asked.
